PROJECT
Beethoven 131
The project centers on Beethoven’s String Quartet op. 131, one of his last completed works, celebrated for its profound impact on the music world. Schubert, on his deathbed, famously requested to hear it, remarking on its significance in music composition. With its 7 movements, each portraying different aspects of life, the quartet plans to intersperse readings and projections of Beethoven’s letters, along with anecdotes from his life, reflecting the mood and character of each movement.
During the concert, the music is combined with the reading of some letters from Beethoven to Franz Gerhard Wegeler, Kapellmeister Hofmeister, and Carl and Johann Beethoven.
